While metalsmithing dates back thousands of years, polymer clay is a 20th century material. The applications of polymer clay are still evolving. I will present a brief history of polymer clay and show examples of artists' work from jewelry to sculpting to painting. 
 
It is a truly magical material that can add color, textures, three-dimension elements, and even mimic other materials.  Polymer clay artists have also successfully adapted techniques from other mediums such as millefiori glass work, mokume gane metal work and scrafitto from enameling/ceramics.
