Instructor: Suzanne Williams

Ocotber 22-25, 2025

10am – 5pm, EST

Dunedin Fine Art Center

1143 Michigan Ave., Dunedin, FL 34698

CLASS FEE: $425

In this 4-day class, students will learn how to fabricate samples of the 3 following types of alternative clasps and complete them as time allows. All 3 are 2-part clasps connected by a chain:

Method #1: Tab Lock Clasp – This is a fancy, modified toggle-type clasp with 2 interlocking parts. The receiving portion of this clasp is characterized by a back panel with a frame around it and an opening that an insert portion is threaded through. Suzanne will introduce flat and more dimensional versions that students can adapt their own designs to.

Method #2: Nesting Shapes Puzzle, Clasp – This clasp is a 2-part interlocking clasp characterized by 2 frame pieces that have components added to them so they fit snugly together, one inside the other, and that also securely interlock so they can’t be easily taken apart.

Method #3: Hinged Fold-over Clasp – This is a 2-part clasp with a hollow box exterior component with a hinged lid that opens to receive an insert that fits snugly into the inside of the box – The clasp is secured by closing the lid of the box.
